James Ray Young
Spiro, Oklahoma
James Ray Young, age 85 of Spiro, died on August 14, 2010, in Fort Smith,Arkansas. He was born May 21, 1925, in Cleburne, Texas. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who served his country honorably. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1943 at the age of eighteen and served in the CBI Theater during World War II. When the Army Air Corp became the United States Air Force in 1947, Jim served in Korea and was on active duty during the Vietnam conflict. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1978.
He was a member of Belle Point Masonic Lodge No. 20 in Fort Smith, Murrow Lodge No. 49 in Spiro, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas Consistory 32° KCCH in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Scimitar Shrine of Little Rock, Arkansas, Order of the Eastern Star Spiro Chapter No. 144 in Spiro, Oklahoma and American Legion Post 31 of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He also was a Shrine Clown.
Jim is survived by his wife and best friend, Phyllis; four children, Jim Young and wife Chelsea of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Bill Young and wife Candy of Houston, Texas, Marie Holder and husband Bill of Livingston, Texas, and Kenneth Young and wife Lacy of Greenwood, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Chris and Joshua Young of Houston, Texas, Christen and Will Holder of Austin, Texas, and Alex and Addi Young of Greenwood, Arkansas; and one sister Dorothy Thomas of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by the John Denton Family of California.
