Kenneth Ray Risenhoover of Enterprise, Oklahoma passed away July 8, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 57. He was born May 26, 1953, at home, to George and Sybil Johnson Risenhoover, in the East Liberty Community where he lived his childhood and most of his adult life.

He is survived by;

His wife: Kim Risenhoover, of the home

Randy Cook and wife, Cynthia, of Germany

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sybil Risenhoover; and one daughter, Rachel Risenhoover.

Ken graduated from Stigler High School later attending Eastern Oklahoma State College in 1973 in Wilburton and completing his education in 1975 at OSU in Stillwater with a degree in Ag Ed. A friend, Ronnie Rose, stated that during Ken’s college years he only knew of Ken to have had one “B” in Speech. The rest of his grades were A’s. He completed his student teaching in Colbert, Oklahoma. Immediately upon graduating he started his career on October 12, 1975, with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS); where he worked in Altus; Wilburton; and was currently employed in Poteau, at the time of his death, as the Leflore County District Conservationist, receiving many awards during his lifelong career.

He was an active member of Shiloh Assembly of God Church where he taught the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
He loved spending time on his farm working his cattle and chicken houses with his son, Travis, playing skip bo with his many friends, always looking to cause a smile with his “What it is”, What it will”, and “what it does”.
He prided himself as most always being the first in line at church meals. He would always say we better get in line or we won’t get nothing. He was a great comedian with always a story to tell. He was a true friend to all who confided in him.

Travis I'm sorry for the loss of your dad! I hope that one day when you meet again you will have that relationship you always hoped for. & I regret that he never really got to know your children for he sorely had missed out! No matter what you loved him greatly & he did many great things for others around him.

I'm sorry that I was away on vacation and was unable to attend the funeral. The Oklahoma SCS/NRCS family has suffered a tremendous loss in Kenneth's passing. My thought's and prayers go out to the family and co-workers. "What it is" was never a question...it was always followed by a statement of fact. What it is...Kenneth will be sorely missed.

Ken and I always worked on opposite sides of the state. However, if a story was told that involved Ken it was always funny and/or positive in manner. A true conservationist.

Well, It is so quiet in the office today. We miss Kenneth so much already. To know we will no longer hear his knee slapping laugh and be able to ask him for advice is unbearable. I cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. I have known Kenneth since 1990 and could not have found a better friend and co-worker. We will miss him terribly.

Ken was always one of the most well respected District Conservationists in NRCS. I never heard anything but praise for his work. I got to visit with him quite a bit a few years ago when SWCS held their annual meeting in Poteau. He did a great job helping set up that meeting and you could tell that everyone we met with during the field tour had a great deal of respect for Ken.

He will be missed by many.

I thought the world of Kenneth and have known him a long time through the ag office. My late father-in-law, Truman Porter, was on the board and was tickled to death when they hired Kenneth. He was so competent and everyone I know loved him. He treated people the way he would like to be treated and will be sorely missed by all in Leflore County. My deepest condolences. I have known no truer environmentalist, friend, mentor, co-worker or boss than Ken. When the phrase "Git'er done" was coined, Kenneth must have been the model. I know also, that when I hear his laugh again, I too will be home.

Kenneth I envy you getting to see George,Sybil, and Rachel. I know you will see a lot of my family too. James, Jean, Jim, and Lou Virden loved you like you were their son. The same as your Mom and Dad loved David and I. I count myself very lucky to have grown up with you and almost celebrating the same birthday in May. We laughed, joked, and grew up together like a brother and sister. You stood for God and now you will be rewarded forever by living in Heaven with all of your loved ones.

Kim and Travis you are in my prayers because with God's strength you will always remember what blessings and great times you had with Kenneth.

I know without a doubt, he was one of a kind!

Ken had a true love of the land as was verified by his work ethics and his committment to the producers he worked with and for. Conservation has lost a true friend and NRCS has lost a true champion. Ken will be sorely missed and irreplaceable at his job. My prayers to his family!

I'm with NRCS and have know Kenneth for more years than I care to admit. I always admired him, he was the ultimate Conservationist and Ambassador for the agency. Glad I got to speak to him at the All Employees meeting! Tremendous loss for the agency and this world here on earth! God Bless.

Ken was an outstanding conservationist, admired by many of us who work for the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He amazed me with his intelligence and common-sense approach. My last conversation with Ken was brief while at the All Employee Meeting in OKC recently. He had a giant cookie in-hand with a big smile on his face and assured me there were plenty left! You are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. I pray you seek God's grace and allow Him to bring comfort by reflecting on wonderful memories you shared together.

Kenneth was such a mentor to me while working with the NRCS. All the times as a Soil Conservationist throughout Oklahoma it was such a great pleasure to work with Ken. Never a dull moment and always a smile on his face. Such a person of knowledge and wisdom that I have never seen in someone so down to earth.

Ken will be missed by many, especially the NRCS family. Kim you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. I always had a fun time everytime I was around Ken and many times kidded him on his ability to eat so much food. I was amused to read that he was always first in line for church meals. Someone has to lead the way and Ken definitely did that.

Kenneth was my cousin and friend. We were both only children and we played together and grew up together. We spent many summers together fishing, exploring, and going to church. He was the closest thing I ever had to a brother. Kenneth you will be missed but what greater honor is there than to set at the feet of Jesus. You know, "What it is." I just had to throw that in! You have always been a blessing to me and David. We love you!

I will always remember going as young boy to Sunday dinner with Kenneth and his mom and dad. I didn't know then the love they were showing to me and my mom and dad. Kenneth was a good boy who turned into a good man. The world is richer because of him. Pastor Dennis Cariker

I am so sorry to hear of Kenny's untimely death. I have many fond memories of him in high school in Stigler, in college in Wilburton, and most of all, in church at Hoyt. It was always fun to listen to him tell a story in his unique way! I have great recollections of going to church with George, Sybil, and Kenny at the Hoyt Free Will Baptist Church. My prayers go out to all of his family and friends during this most difficult time.
