Louise Nance Keesee died on August 15, 2010 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 91. Her services were held at 11:00 on August 21, 2010 at her ranch in Holdenville, OK. She was buried at Holdenville Cemetery and services were conducted by Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Stigler, OK.
Louise was born Nov. 6, 1918 in Wichita Falls, TX to Leon Mullins Nance and Myrtle May Cubine Nance. Louise graduated from Hollis High School, in Hollis, OK in 1934. She graduated from Cameron College, Lawton, OK, in 1936 and attended Oklahoma A&M College, Stillwater, OK, after completing Junior College. She graduated from Central State College, Edmond, OK, in 1938 with a degree in Elementary Education. She obtained graduate training in Special Education at Central State College 1965-1969.
Louise married Paul A. Keesee (“Doc”) on Aug. 17, 1939 in Hollis, OK. They enjoyed rearing their children at Essar Ranch near San Antonio, TX, Kermac Angus Ranch near Poteau, OK, and McGee-Keesee Ranch near Edmond, OK. In August 1995, Doc and Louise built a home in northwest Oklahoma City. It was quite a change from them to leave the ranch and move to town for the first time in their married life, but they adapted well to the conveniences that city life affords. In 2004 Doc and Louise moved to an assisted living facility in Tulsa to be near their daughter. “Wezy” was the family’s Chief Financial Officer through the years and really knew how to get full value for a nickel. They had a wonderful life together for nearly 69 years.
Louise was a member of the United Methodist Church, was a collector of Early American antiques and also entertained visitors who were attending ranch sales, field days, and cattle shows.
Louise is survived by three children:
Nancy Walter, Tulsa, OK
Janie Word and husband, Bill, of Enid, OK
Paul Keesee, Jr. and wife, Julie, of Holdenville, OK
She is also survived by;
Four grandsons: Jim Walter, Frisco, TX; Chris Walter, Calvin, OK; Jeff Word, Frisco, TX; and Cody Keesee, Holdenville, OK; and three granddaughters: Lindsey Word, Houston, TX; Nance Walter, Tulsa, OK; and Stephanie Keesee, Holdenville, OK.
Five great-grandsons and two great granddaughters also survive her.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul A. Keesee on April 17, 2010; father, mother, three brothers, and grandson, Michael Walter.
Family requests that memorial donations be made to Dr. Paul A. and Louise Nance Keesee Hughes County 4-H Memorial Scholarship, c/o Hughes County 4-H, 200 N. Broadway, Ste. 2, Holdenville, OK, 74848. It is Louise’s request that each person sign an organ donor card.
